The Company

The word “Consilia” is a Latin word (the plural of "Consilium") used in late medieval times to describe a collection of professional advice. 

Pearson Engineering Consilia  (or PEC) provides professional advice, engineering designs, training  and other services across a range of disciplines in the civil engineering industry. 

PEC staff also has a large body of expertise in change management in engineering consultancy businesses.

These services are provided based on PEC staff’s 40 years experience in the construction industry, mostly in engineering consultancies and related businesses.

PEC staff have particular expertise in working to integrate engineering designs with the requirements of constructors and construction processes. We understand that planning, procurement and programme drive value as much as quantities do, And we understand how to work with our clients to optimise designs to achieve this value.

PEC’s services can be delivered “at a distance” by electronic media (email, ftp file transfers, Client's Project Management platforms, etc) or by PEC staff being based in the client’s offices, depending on the nature and extent of services provided.

The services PEC provides are delivered with a large input from the company principal, thus ensuring that all advice is given based on a large body of experience and in-depth technical knowledge.

The Principal of PEC is Anthony (Tony) Pearson.

Tony has over 40 years experience in the construction industry and has worked for major consultants as well as for smaller more specialised consultants. His experience has been gained from projects in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia, China and Hong Kong.

He has managed large teams and led smaller focused technical teams. Most recently this experience has been focused on successfully turning around under performing businesses; largely by a focus on technical expertise, quality delivery of services, and good attention to commercial issues.

Tony is widely recognised as a technical expert across a wide range of civil engineering disciplines, with the ability to understand and lead the detailed technical engineering, as well as having a "big picture" view of the requirements of projects. He has particular expertise in the following areas:

• Integrating the requirements of construction and design
• Bridge and Viaduct design
• Soil / structure interaction designs (Excavation lateral support, cut and cover tunnels, etc)
• Design of complex structures
• Design Planning and Design Management (including the management and integration of a number of design disciplines)
• Engineering business unit performance improvement

Tony is a "hands on" technical manager and technical engineer with the ability to undertake designs unilaterally and hence he has the ability to effectively lead others in the efficient performance of designs. He is interested in ensuring that the processes used are conducive to the delivery of quality designs.
